LAR DE SANTA TEREZINHA
A SHELTER HOME FOR WOMEN
Lar de Santa Terezinha, located at Pajifond, in the city of Margoa, Goa, India is an orphanage run by the Carmelite Fathers since 1947. It was founded by Fr. Jose Marie and Sr. Maria Christiana. This orphanage has empowered hundreds of girls to settle in life in India and abroad. Today there are altogether 55 residents, of whom 8 are senior citizens, twenty-five working women, others pursue their school and college education.
At Lar we have adopted other schemes to reach out to the marginalized. They are Food Bank, Midday Meal, Education Fund and Healthcare Fund
What we want?
The Carmelite Fathers request you to generously contribute your mite, towards this project that reaches out to the marginalized women of our society. Since the existing structure is dilapidated and it accommodates women of all age groups, the felt need is all the more urgent. The Government permission for the construction is already in place. We have signed contracts with the Architect and the Contractor. Fr. Provincial laid the foundation stone on 20 July 2019. The work began on 1 August and we wish to complete the first phase of construction by March 2020. The first phase consists of just two doors, of the four doors. The cost of the first phase is around rupees two crores. (US$ 300,000). From our local donors, we have succeeded in raising U.S. $100,000. We request you to generously contribute towards this project.
